Profile | Cynthia Roney, ICF Certified Executive Coach

Introducing the first in a new series of profiles of the various people with whom I've had the pleasure of working in my career to date including clients, colleagues, fellow industry professionals and people I like and admire.

Cynthia Roney

Cynthia Roney and I have been working together for a couple of months and to sum it up, we were destined to meet!  We were brilliantly matched via the Women's Enterprise Centre Peer Mentoring Program and so far Cynthia has helped me make a significant difference in my business development.  Already, positive shifts are happening for me as I've begun to run my business in a way that propels it forward with weekly business activities and strategies for generating exactly the kind of work and clients that I love.

We did some lovely business portraits of her recently at her home in Kerrisdale. Angela Victory of Visible Beauty designed her hair and makeup, enhancing her natural, sun-kissed beauty while at the same time maintaining her always professional and approachable look.  Cynthia was very at ease with me  -  which you can see from a couple of my favourites shown below!

I'm so pleased and grateful to learn that her new portraits are getting rave reviews from several of her over 2,000 contacts and that some new business may come my way!  Thank you Cynthia for all your help and I look forward to our continued relationship!

More about Cynthia from our recent interview after the jump...

Tell me a bit about yourself...about you, your business and/or what you like to do with your time.

I’m an Executive Business Coach and former biotech CEO and I absolutely love what I’m doing now as a business coach.  I work with a tremendous group of business owners and executives, especially women, helping them to take their business or career to the next level. I’m able to share my experience, training and passion to help others succeed.  It’s been quite a journey and I wouldn’t change a thing!  The name of my company Executive Passage captures the essence of what I firmly believe, that success is a journey, not a destination and we can all use some help along the way.

What did you like best about working with Linda and how have your photos benefited you?

Linda brilliantly captured the real ME in her photographs.  She integrated my business coaching photos into my personal life by taking a series of relaxed yet professional photographs at my home in the sunshine.  It was a heavenly day and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.  I adore working with Linda as both her coach and as her client and I was thrilled with the results.  Thank you Linda for taking care of all the details and making me look and feel so good!

If you could pick one favourite shot Linda took of you/for you, which one would it be and why?

I love so many of Linda’s photo’s that it’s difficult to pick one.  If I had to choose, I’d pick the series on the front steps of my home in my dark suit and white top (can’t resist the corporate look).  This series of photos appeals to me because they truly capture an executive woman, seasoned but not hardened by her journey, and ready to continue her path up another flight of stairs.

What is your philosophy or approach to life?

My philosophy has always been about the journey not the destination.  I’m also a strong believer in dreaming big and aiming high---if you don’t who will….and why not aim high?!

What's new in your life? What's next for you?

I’ve completed my first year in business since leaving the corporate world and my work as an Executive Business coach is incredibly inspiring.  In addition to coaching my clients, I’m actively involved with a number of organizations including the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards, the Kitsilano Chamber of Commerce Westside Business Awards, the Canadian Board Diversity Council ‘Get on Board’ workshops designed to help more women become ‘board-ready’, the Women’s Enterprise Centre Peer Mentoring and Taking the Stage programs, and the Women’s Executive Network Wisdom mentoring where I am a facilitator.  I’m also looking forward to celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary with my husband Michael and our 3 children Connor, Brandon and Taylor.  I’m blessed!
