The Land Awards recognize initiatives which demonstrate leadership, innovation, and collaboration related to the sustainable use and conservation of land in British Columbia. The awards celebrate and honour the non-profit organizations, private companies, and government bodies behind the initiatives...and they highlight the dynamic, forward-thinking people who make it all happen—leaders in creating sustainable communities and making BC a great place to live.
This year's key note speaker was Mr. William McDonough
, a world-renowned architect and designer, and author known for his work in sustainability. He is also winner of three U.S. presidential awards: the Presidential Award for Sustainable Development (1996), the National Design Award (2004); and the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award (2003). Time magazine recognized him as a "Hero for the Planet" in 1999, stating that "his utopianism is grounded in a unified philosophy that—in demonstrable and practical ways—is changing the design of the world."
It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of this event and support this very important work.
