In late August I had the opportunity to work on a very rewarding assignment for the UBC & VGH Hospital Foundation shooting emotional and uplifting portraits for their Annual Review 2013 (digital version). The review is entitled 1/2 billion reasons to smile and justly so as the Foundation has raised over $500,000,000 since 1980 from generous donors. These donations equate to better specialised care for people in BC who are facing serious medical challenges, research to help find a cure for diseases like ALS, multiple sclerosis and ovarian cancer. VGH is also a teaching hospital so the funding allows for education and training for health care specialists so that future generations can lead healthier, longer lives with access to BC's best health care.
The Annual Review was designed by Karo Design and the book is simply stunning. The images come alive and really bring forth the message of the Foundation and the successes it is bringing to the community. It was such an amazing experience to work with Karo's super talented and nice Senior Finished Artist Simon Cranwell and the Foundation's marketing and communications team Selena McLachlan and Kim Leong. Everyone was so easy to work with and the shoot went seamlessly.
Below are the images published in the review...I'm very pleased with the results.
Big thanks to Aaron Aubrey for his great photographic assistance and to Angela Victory for her natural makeup and hair styling.
