Lorraine Sims is a very dear person to me and to my family. She is my friend, mentor, life and business coach and someone I can always look to for help, whatever that may be. I can't recall exactly when we met but I do know that we have known each other for at least 20 years!
Lorraine is a Life and Business Coach for her company, Trinity Coaching Group helping people to pursue their dreams and accomplish their life purpose. I have had the pleasure of photographing Lorraine on several occasions now, for both her business and her family.
Here Lorraine talks about her life, business and her humanitarian goals for the future, some of which she has already achieved. Enjoy some of the wonderful moments we captured together and that Lorraine and her family are enjoying and will cherish for years to come.
Tell me a bit about yourself...about you, your business and/or what you like to do with your time?
Keith and I have been happily married for 24 years (happily Mauied, as our honeymoon shirts said). We have two lovely teenage children who inspire us and make us laugh every day.
We live on a beautiful tree-lined street in Kitsilano, just 7 blocks from the beach, which we frequent with our dog, Max.
I started my own business 15 years ago as a life coach, and still love it today. It still amazes me how a person can change all aspects of their life in just 3 months, with some positive guidance and support. Just recently a client said: “Lorraine, you really helped me get my sh*t together. My home and business are now organized, I am engaged in the work of my dreams, I now have productive conversations with my husband and mother, and I am richer than I imagined. Thank you.” I am thrilled to help people become happier and more fulfilled in their lives.
What did you like best about working with Linda and how have your photos benefited you?
Last summer, Linda took some gorgeous family photos for us. Her expertise in choosing the garden spots and assisting us with our natural poses, has created a dozen beautiful portraits that we will treasure for a lifetime. You can see Linda’s fabulous photos throughout our home. Two years ago, our daughter invited Linda to one of her graduation parties to take some memorable photos of her and her friends in their gowns and suits. She still proudly displays the collage on her bedroom wall. For my mother’s birthday present last year, we hired Linda to photograph her 4 grandchildren. I think it was the best present she’d ever received. She was so excited, she sent copies to all her friends and relatives overseas.
If you could pick one favourite shot Linda took of you/for you, which one would it be and why?
My favorite pictures are the ones of our children, with big grins on their faces. They make me smile every time I look at them.
What is your philosophy or approach to life?
My philosophy on life is this: Each of us is born into this world with an important purpose. And, we are perfectly designed with the natural talents and abilities to fulfill that purpose. Furthermore, we are the only ones who can. It is not only our responsibility, it is our duty to share our natural gifts and talents with others, and make the world a better place for all life on earth. My talent is helping other people discover their purpose.
What's new in your life? What's next for you?
I am currently writing a book about how each of us can contribute to World Peace, and I am extremely proud to have one of my peace articles published in the June issue of Common Ground entitled "What Peace Means to Me".
My goal is to contribute to peace by writing about highly-effective peaceful strategies around the world, that will help people adopt these methods in their own lives and nations. I know we can make Peace a reality.
