I've lived in Vancouver my whole life and have seen it go through many changes. Some good, some not so good. I moved back to the North Shore with my family in 2010 after having lived in various places around the city including downtown, the east side, west side and Kitsilano. Those areas were good for me for those particular times in my life but after our son Connor was born, I knew that we would find our way back to the North Shore for a simpler, quieter life that feels more familiar and like home.
Yesterday we took our bikes downtown and began our lovely ride from Coal Harbour and worked our way around Stanley Park. It was such a beautiful fall day with the blue sky just peaking through the clouds. I used to ride my bike across the Lions Gate Bridge almost everyday in the summer as a teenager but these days being older and seemingly always busy, I often avoid going downtown. However, I was very impressed with how much the Coal Harbour and park areas have changed. It's bustling with activity and looks like a great place for families in the heart of the city. We truly do live in a jewel of a place.
Although we love our little slice of heaven and peaceful simple life in quaint Lynn Valley, it looks like we'll be venturing overtown to enjoy the sights, bustle and beauty more often.
