What an amazing family holiday we had in early May to celebrate my hubby's birthday and Mother's Day. We stayed in a sweet loft in Fairfield that was situated about 5 minutes' walk from Fisherman's Wharf. We had delicious fish 'n chips at Barb's Fish and Chips and Connor was thrilled to see Sammy the seal and his friends enjoying the fish being given to them by all the excited visitors. The second day was our big outing to see Orcas and we did! We saw two pods, one of which was a calf. This is very rare we were told so felt lucky to have witnessed him so big thanks to Skipper Ron at Sea King Adventures for giving us such an amazing adventure with the whales! It was the first time I had see orcas in the wild and it was truly breathtaking. Needless to say we slept well after a wonderfully full day of being out in the fresh air and enjoying what nature presented to us.
The next day we gorged on scrumptious waffles and explored a bit of the city. In the evening our dear friends Heidi and Eric spoiled us as we dined on roast chicken and asparagus while Connor got to have his favourite - cheese pizza. Heidi's little dogs Nina and Maximillion were so adorable I couldn't help but take their pictures! Next time I will be sure to take Heidi's as I was so fixated on the dogs. ;)
On the last day I got visit with Heidi's mother which happened to land nicely on Mother's Day. I have known Heidi and her for mom for most of my life so I was overjoyed at the opportunity to see her again. She was like a second mother to me growing up as well as after my own mother passed away when I was 18. The sun was shining and the day was perfect. We took our time heading home, spending time along the beach at Oak Bay and slowly making our way to the ferry. The evening ride was stunning and we arrived home safely and contented. I took a lot of pictures and so have opted for a slideshow..sit back with a hot cup of tea and enjoy!
